To celebrate Michaelmas Day, a quarter-day, or St Michael and All Angels Day (29th September) David Parsons devised an evening of readings, song and instrumental music under the title of
Angels and Devils, wonderfully supported by Helen Lunt (soprano), Janet Whitteridge (flute) and Mary Ellis (cello and readings). It was not a concert in the usual format, but it was a delightful and moving experience which will remain in the memory for a long time to come.
The programme was well chosen and varied. The songs and readings brought into sharp focus the constant battle between good and evil in our daily life. It was a thought-provoking evening that left the audience enriched and enlightened.
The next concert to be staged in Street Parish Church is 'Music from the Silver Screen'.
