I had a phone call this morning from a gentleman who introduced himself as Stanley Gunby. He told me his age was 95, and that his family had at one time run the Street Inn. He wished to know if there was a published history of the inn. more »

This week's Central Somerset Gazette has news of a report on modern farming as destructive of ancient tracks on the Somerset Levels. Apparently ploughing and draining the land has the effect of drying out the waterlogged prehistoric timbers. It is their waterlogged state that has preserved them for so many centuries. more »
