I posted a photo some time ago showing yellow marks on the road opposite the Mission Church, where Vestry Road curves round just before it becomes Merriman Road.
Today a couple of men were working behind temporary barriers there. When I returned later the men were gone and a neat line was cut in the road.
On the opposite (south) side the pavement has been dug up and barriers are still there.
It looks as if the road is going to be much narrower and the pavement much wider.
I welcome this move. When I am crossing Vestry Road on foot, I'm likely to have cars passing in front of and behind me. Now the crossing will be much shorter, and cars will need to slow right down to go round the right-angle.
One question, though.
When I mentioned the yellow marks at a Street Society working group recently, the Chairman of the Parish Council hadn't heard about them.
Does the highways department not even inform local councils of its intentions? I think it should.
