I had a rewarding day with Stan Gunby in Warminster, recording his memories of Street at the time of the First World War.
His great-grandparents and then his great-aunt were the licensees of Street Inn, and he and his mother moved back from London when his father, a shoemaker, joined up.
He remembers going to school in what is now Living Homes. His first day is vivid in his memory, as is the horror of finding himself in a railway compartment with the teacher who rapped his knuckles painfully in class.
Expeditions with girls from his road 'up on hill' to gather primroses and bluebells were among the small pleasures which made his stay in Street very happy, and made him want to retire here - only there seemed to be no houses available 30 years ago. Warminster is to him definitely a second best!
